My name is Julie Michaelsen. I graduated with honors in 2012 from Capella University with a Master’s Degree in Addictions Counseling. After graduating, I took some time to start a family and returned to working on my licensures and clinical practice in 2016. In 2020, I became a fully Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC). In 2021, I became a fully Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS), and in 2025, I received my Clinical Counseling Supervisors license (CCS) for the state of NC.
I have worked with all different populations, including incarcerated individuals and law enforcement. I am EMDR certified and specialize in working with trauma, addictions, and general mental health. I use trauma-informed therapies, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Reality Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I work with adults 18+.
I believe that all people have great potential and strength within themselves and that our journeys are rarely a straight path. We are all perfect in our own way. Sometimes we just need a little help on the journey. I strive to help clients be the best versions of themselves and find joy in their lives. I am always honored to be invited on someone’s journey.
