Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. EMDR Therapy can help to relieve many types of psychological stress resulting from disturbing life experiences. EMDR Therapy shows that the mind can heal from psychological trauma in much the same way as the body recovers from physical trauma. This is accomplished by activating a person’s natural healing process of storing appropriate emotions in the brain while discarding the inappropriate emotions, beliefs and body sensations. The goal of EMDR Therapy is to instill the emotions, understanding, and perspectives that will lead to healthy and useful behaviors and interactions in order to guide a person in positive ways in the future.

EMDR sessions can run over the typically allotted hour covered by insurance companies. In this case, the remainder of the time will be the client’s responsibility. The rate is $150 per hour, $75 per half hour.
