I am Lauren Alvarez, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Bilingual Mental Health Therapist.

In 2013, I graduated from East Carolina University with a Master’s Degree in Counselor Education with a focus in Clinical Mental Health. As an undergraduate, I interned and worked with children and families in a hospital and a center for children that experienced abuse. In addition, I have received two Bachelor Degrees in Family and Community Services, as well as Child Life.

I have worked in various settings from hospitals, child advocacy centers, domestic violence agencies and shelters, to agencies in community mental health. My positions have included Advocate, Case Manager, Intensive In-Home Team Lead, Assessor, and Outpatient therapist for the Spanish and English speaking population.

My expertise includes bilingual counseling of children, families, adults and the LGBTQ+ community with depression, anxiety, school or career dysfunctions, family dynamic issues, history of trauma including various types of abuse, grief, substance use, and relationship issues.

Depending on my client and his/her specific needs, my approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, trauma focused, person centered, and Ecosystemic Structural Family therapy. I recently became fully certified in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and am registered in the state of North Carolina.

I have worked in the community with adults, children, and families most of my life. Helping others is a passion of mine. I will make it my priority to help you along your journey by guiding and empowering you to pursue your dreams and improve your life.
